Norwalk Weed and Seed Initiative

Norwalk is an official Weed & Seed Site, recognized by the United States Department of Justice. The Weed & Seed Initiative seeks a collaboration between the police and the community, to "weed" out crime and then "seed" the area with programs to improve the overall quality of life of the residents in the Weed & Seed Target Area.

The initiative is coordinated by a Steering Committee made of residents, business persons, governmental leaders and the police.

Weed & Seed oversees the Mayor's Youth Employment Initiative and assists the police in the planning of various community events throughout the year, designed to bring the police and community in closer partnership to improve the quality of life in the city.
